Welcome to Mark Julien's Homepage
Mark Julien

Mark Julien was educated at Winchester College and Wadham College, Oxford. After graduating in 1997, he successfully completed an ACA accountancy graduate conversion course before joining Accenture in London as a Management Consultant. In 2000, he founded Oxford Professional Training Limited, a language training business based in Beijing, China.
Using exclusive licenses negotiated with Linguarama, Europe's largest Business Language Training Organisation, and a joint-venture agreement with the China International Intellectech Corporation (CIIC), one of the most influential State-owned human resource companies in China, funded solely by the State Council, Oxford Professional Training now has around 30 employees and has raised more than $1.5m in finance. Between 2002 and 2003, Mark brought in new management to run the company and, in November 2003, he finally left the company's executive team. The company has now expanded from Beijing to Shanghai and offers financial qualification training such as for ACCA and CIMA as well as Business English Training.
Mark is now in Shanghai working for Standard Chartered Wholesale Bank as their Senior Relationship Manager, responsible for Multinational Corporates. He can be contacted by email on mark.julien@julienco.com.
In 2006, Mark joined the Standard Chartered China Charity Committee and as a result has been involved in a number of charitable activities, including HIV/AIDS. In the 1990's, there was an appallingly high rate of HIV infection in Henan province, North China, as a result of blood contamination. Estimates of how many people were infected range from 150,000 to over 1,000,000 just in Henan alone.
The Chi Heng Foundation (http://www.chfaidsorphans.com/) is a charity that provides education for children that have been orphaned by HIV. On Sunday March 4 2007, Mark ran with three young men, orphaned by HIV, and one Chi Heng volunteer in the Hong Kong marathon 10km challenge. If anyone would like to sponsor this, then please go to his fund-raising page: http://www.seeingisbelieving.org.uk/MarkJulien/.
In January, 2007, Mark was appointed "China Ambassador" for Standard Chartered's "Seeing is Believing" Campaign against preventable blindness. The campaign has been successful in restoring eyesight to 1 million people since it was launched in 2003. The next phase aims to impact 10 million. For more information, please see the website at http://www.seeingisbelieving.org.uk/.
In April 2007, Mark travelled to Mombasa in Kenya to work with the New Hope Orphanage, which provides support and education to children that have lost their parents as a result of AIDS. To view a short 5-min film on this trip, please visit: http://www.markjulien.com/newhope.htm.
